Exam Review

Students will be given bit and pieces of exam prep and review in the last few days of class.  They should not be fooled by the myth that one cannot study for an English exam.  Students can absolutely prepare for their exam and should definitely go over the tips and tricks we are talking about in class in order to best approach their final evaluation of the semester.  Please check out the Exam Preparation subfolder in our ENG4U1_Semester 2 folder on the Halton Cloud.

Have a great weekend!  Here's to a strong finish! ..at least your head's not in a box of pigeons.

Watch the video and answer the questions.

The video is from TED-ed/YouTube and is entitled, "The Beauty of Data Visualization by David McCandless."

Seminars will be discussed in further detail on Monday and Tuesday.

Critical Analysis: The Square

Students will be writing a Critical Analysis on The Square.  All documents can be found in the ENG4U1 shared folder.  This includes the assignment sheet, graphic organizer/planner, exemplars and rubric.  The planning chart is due on Monday, May 5, 2014.

The Square

What is the role/purpose of documentary film in the 21st century?  Through our study of The Square, we are attempting to answer this very BIG question. Students have compiled notes on their viewing based on techniques that we read about in "Defining Documentary."  They have also watched an LA Times interview with the filmmaker, Jehane Noujaim.  Students will be moving on to write a Critical Analysis of the film.
